And so it goes, Sublime Text 2 is now out in Alpha form for OSX and Linux. So far, it's working well for me.
Kepler Objects of Interest, or KOIs, are planets. Well, maybe they are planets. Each KOI references a star and the fact that a planet may be in orbit around that star. As part of a data release to the public on 01 Feb 2011, the Kepler science team published over 1200 KOIs, 54 appear to be planets that are within the habitable zone of their respective star, i.e. an orbit that could support the lukewarm temperatures for liquid water, and therefore of immediate interest to anyone Searching for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence.
Hardware used:
TRENDnet 56K USB 2.0 Phone, Internet, and Fax Modem TFM-561U (White)
Under openSUSE 11.3, this modem is immediately detected when plugged into a USB port and the device file shows up as /dev/ttyACM0 (assuming you only have one).
The TRENDNet modem will respond with a device id of 56000
given the command ATI
. mgetty that ships with openSUSE 11.3 will incorrectly detect this modem as a Rockwell and proceed to issue commands that the TRENDNet modem does not understand for voice modes.
It looks like Apple may be dropping its own support for customizing the JDK to look and run well under MacOSX (0)(1)(2)(3)(4)(5)
I've watched with great interest how Apple deals with the various languages it provides direct support to (such as MacRuby, GCC (C,C++,Fortran,...), future technologies such as LLVM and of course Java). I can understand Apple's decision making behind Flash and not being willing to foster environments for it, but Java's utility goes far beyond Flash and web browsing.
